Our overnight flight to Istanbul arrives this morning.
Welcome to Istanbul, Turkey - a city which lives on two continents. It is separated by the Bosporus, a strait, and thus consists of a European and an Asian part. Overall, 95% of Turkey is in Asia, and 5% is in Europe. We visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hagia Sophia. Then we walk to the Blue Mosque and admire the famous mosque’s six minarets and interior Iznik wall tiles while your guide reimagines the tales of the demanding sultan who designed it. Time also provided to see the Basilica Cistern (YerebatanSarayı), the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul. After lunch, back to hotel for rest and dinner at hotel.

After breakfast this morning, we visit Topkapi Palace and step back in time to a world when sultans and their harems ruled Istanbul. Explore the palace’s ornate Imperial Treasury. After our lunch it is time for some retail therapy; we bring you to the Grand Bazaar – one of the world largest covered markets. In the evening, we explore Istanbul by night. Leave your hotel to one of Istanbul’s finest restaurants for your evening of traditional Turkish culture and cuisine. Relax over a delicious dinner with wine, beer or soft drinks, and then sit back to watch a live belly dancing and Anatolian folklore show.

This morning after breakfast, enjoy a walking tour of the area of the Hippodrome - it is also known as Sultanahmet Square and was previously a circus that was the sporting and social centre of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. Then hop on a boat for a Bosphorus sightseeing cruise - A cruise on the Bosphorus is probably the most overlooked Istanbul tourist attraction! Afterwards we leave for Canakkale - a town and seaport, located on the narrowest point of the southern coast of the Dardanelles whilst crossing 1915 Canakkale bridge (world's longest suspension bridge).

Today, we drop by the famous Trojan Horse in Canakkale that was once used in the movie "Troy" and was then given to Turkey after the official request by The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey. Afterwards, take a cable car ride for a panoramic view of the ancient Pergamum Acropolis. In the afternoon, we continue to drive along the Aegean coast until our destination for the night, Kusadasi. The city's name, which means "bird island" in Turkish, is set in a superb gulf in the Aegean region of Turkey and is known for its turquoise sparkling water of the Aegean Sea, broad sandy beaches, bright sun and large marina with a capacity for 600 boats.

This morning after breakfast, we will visit the town of Ephesus which was an ancient port city whose well-preserved ruins are in modern-day Turkey. The city was once considered the most important Greek city and the most important trading center in the Mediterranean region. Here, we will also visit the House of Virgin Mary, who were said to have lived and died here in Ephesus. We then make our way towards Pamukkale and here the main attraction is the fascinating views of white calcium deposits which in turn form the white terraces and basins - this place is fondly also known as the Cotton Castle. We drop in to see first hand the marvellous white basins and also visit the ruins of Hierapolis here as well.

We make our way to the amazing city of Cappadocia but first we drop into Konya to visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana Rumi. Although most famous outside of Turkey for his poetry (including his renowned 25,000-verse Mathnawi poem), for believers, Mevlana Rumi is remembered as a saint, and his mausoleum is a holy place.

A city tour of Cappadocia awaits us this morning. Highlights include Pigeon Valley and Fairy Chimneys, Uchisar Castle and the famous Goreme Open Air Muesum. Finish the day off with an entertaining dinner with belly dancing.

We say goodbye to amazing Cappadocia and drive towards Bolu this morning. Before we leave, a photostop at Esentepe Hill for a view point that shows off the amazing landscape of Cappadocia. We then head towards Özkonak Underground City - this city is smaller than Cappadocia’s other subterranean cities like Kaymakli and Derinkuyu. Likely built in the Byzantine era, though perhaps even older, Özkonak Underground City was rediscovered in the '70s by a local farmer who wondered where his excess crop water was going. We will also visit Lake Tuz - the second largest lake in Turkey and one of the largest salt lakes in the world. To finish off the day, we visit Ataturk Mausoleum (1881-1938), The architecture of the mausoleum is a mix of different styles that represent the various Anatolian civilizations.

A few hours drive and we will arrive back into Istanbul today. Upon arrival into the city, we will have a walking tour through the neighbourhoods of Fener and Balat, an area rich in history, architecture and religious monuments. As a historic area of Istanbul, these districts are included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Afterwards, we drive to Camlica Hill - The best place to take the panoramic photo which the southern part of the Bosphorus and the mouth of the golden horn.

Our wonderful adventure finally comes to an end and this morning, we head to the airport to check in for our flight bound for home.
