DAY 1. MELBOURNE/SINGAPORE

This evening, we depart for Incheon (Seoul) from Melbourne International Airport with Singapore Airlines

DAY 2. SINGAPORE/INCHEON

Our flight should arrive into Singapore just after midnight and after a short transit, we reboard our flight bound for Incheon. This morning, we arrive into Seoul! After ground formalities, we will have breakfast and then freshen up at a local Korean Spa. Afterwards we visit the National Museum of South Korea, Kyeongbok palace and Presidential Blue House. Late afternoon, we head to Gwanghwamun Square and Cheonggye cheon stream, touted as the most successful urban facelift. After dinner, we check in at our hotel.

DAY 3. SEOUL/DMZ TOUR/ SEOUL

After breakfast, we will start our DMZ tour which will last just a bit until the afternoon. Then it is off to watch the world famous Nanta show – one of South Korea’s longest running live shows filled with humorous kitchen and percussion performances. After dinner, we head back to our hotel for rest.

DAY 4. SEOUL

This morning we visit Namsangol hanok village – a beautiful village, covering a site of 7,934 square meters. It is composed of three parts: a traditional Korean garden, time capsule plaza, and the village itself, which encases the traditional Korean houses. Later we visit a Korean Gingseng outlet and Korean cosmetic shop for some shopping. After this we experience a very unique VR (Virtual Reality) traditional Hanbok clothing experience at the Korean Tourism Organization office. Enjoy a bit of time at the city’s oldest traditional market, the Gwangiang Market. A day wouldn’t be complete without a visit to N Seoul Tower—the centre of Seoul and the highest place where you can see Seoul from above.

DAY 5. SEOUL/MT SORAK

After breakfast this morning we go to the Samsung D Light show which showcases all the latest and greatest products from Samsung. Afterwards, we continue onto Mt Sorak. Upon arrival and after checking into our resort for overnight stay, feel free to try out the hot spring and spa facilities! Please prepare swimming gear and cap for yourself.

DAY 6. MT SORAK/KYONGJU

This morning we head over to Mt Sorak National Park where you will have a chance to take many photos of South Korea’s most beautiful mountain. Here you can also visit Shinhungsa Temple—head temple of Korean Buddhism. After we visit Abai-maeul which has long served as a stage for Korean TV dramas, especially the internationally renowned “Autumn Love Story” TV drama. Along the way to Kyongju, enjoy the view of the eastern coast. Once here, we pay a visit to Bomun Tourist Town to enjoy the local attractions, etc.

DAY 7. KYONGJU/PUSAN

Soon after breakfast, proceed by coach to Pusan and along the way we stop by a Amethyst Factory where we get to see a wide selection of jewellery. We then drop by Chomsongdae Observatory, a 7th century bottle shaped stone structure known to be the world’s earliest observatory. Upon arrival into Pusan, we visit Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, a beautiful temple situated near the sea. Also today we visit Yongdusan Park and Jagalchi Fish Market.

DAY 8. PUSAN / OSAKA

This morning, we make our way to Pusan international airport for our morning flight to Osaka. Welcome to Osaka! Upon arrival, we will head out for our first lunch in Japan and drive to Nara City – to visit the Deer Park and Todaiji temple. Afterwards, we drive back to Osaka for some free time in the afternoon.

DAY 9. OSAKA / UJI / KYOTO / OSAKA

In the morning we will quickly have a photoshop at Osaka Castle before leaving Osaka. We will continue our drive to Uji – feel free to experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony (at own expense). In the afternoon we will arrive at Kyoto. We will visit to the stunning vermilion colored Fushimi Inari Shrine, whose 4km long tunnel of scarlet torii gates was featured in the film Memoirs of a Geisha. Then, we will visit the famous Kiyomizu Temple, best known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall, 13 meters above the hillside below. Afterwards, we will also visit the districts of Gion and Pontocho in which you can see much of traditional Japan.

DAY 10. OSAKA / KYOTO / KANAZAWA

Today we will continue our tour of Kyoto. First is a visit to Arashiyama to see Tenryuji Temple where you can have a glimpse of traditional Zen landscape garden design. Then proceed through a dense bamboo forest, past several small shrines, tea shops and private houses before arriving at the Togetsukyo Bridge over Hozu River. Next, visit the Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion) covered with 18 carat gold leaf. Then proceed to the Nishijin Textile Center where you can view displays of kimonos and even watch a kimono fashion show. Afterwards, we take an express train to the city of Kanazawa (approx. 2 hours)

DAY 11. KANAZAWA / TAKAYAMA

After breakfast, this morning we visit Kenrokuen Garden, one of three most beautiful strolling gardens of Japan. Afterwards, we leave Kanazawa and make our way to the World Heritage listed rural area of Shirakawago – home of the UNESCO designated Gassho-styled (“praying hands”) farmhouses. Then, we will continue on to Takayama, a city located amongst the Japanese Alps and is known as “Little Kyoto” for its preserve historical structure and environment.

DAY 12. TAKAYAMA / MATSUMOTO

We continue sightseeing in Takayama this morning which include the Morning Market, Takayama Jinya and Old Town. You can browse the market stalls for local crafts and fresh farm products. Takayama’s Old Town has been beautifully preserved, with many buildings and whole streets of houses dating from the Edo Period (1600- 1868). In the afternoon, we will continue on to Matsumoto. Visit Matsumoto Castle, also known as “Crow Castle” because of its black exterior. Inside, we can see the best examples of wooden construction of a traditional Japanese style castle. Tonight, we will stay at a Ryokan, where you can soak in the therapeutic waters of a spa bath and enjoy a traditional Japanese dinner.

DAY 13. MATSUMOTO / MT FUJI / GOTEMBA / OWAKUDANI / TOKYO

After breakfast, we will travel to Mt. Fuji and if weather permits, we will travel up to the 5th station to admire the world famous peak. Next, we head to Gotemba Peace Park, take in the scenic view of Mt. Fuji and thousands of cherry blossoms. From Gotemba we will proceed to Hakone and take a 20 minute ropeway from Togendai to Owakundani. Owakundani also has splendid views of Mount Fuji in good weather. Then, proceed to Tokyo.

DAY 14. TOKYO FREE DAY 

After breakfast, we invite you to make the most of your free day in Tokyo! There is so much to see and do in this amazing city!

DAY 15. TOKYO TOUR/ SINGAPORE

The amazing city of Tokyo is yours to discover today! We start with a visit to Asakusa Kannon Temple and here you can discover the difference between a Shinto Shrine and a Buddhist Temple, then explore Nakamise Market, which resembles a traditional style shopping street of a bygone era. Continue to Ueno Park, famous for its more than 1,000 cherry trees. Next is a visit to Edo Tokyo Museum, where you can learn the history of Tokyo from the time when it was a small village called Edo. Afterwards, a quick photostop at Imperial Palace, the former site of Edo Castle. In the afternoon, we head up Tokyo Tower and get a bird’s eye view of Tokyo. From there we will cross the Rainbow Bridge, and be treated to stunning views of Tokyo Bay. We will travel to the man made islands of Odaiba and see cutting edge architecture, as well as the night view of Tokyo Tower and Rainbow bridge. Late in the evening we make our way to the airport for our flight back home (via Singapore)

DAY 16. SINGAPORE / MELBOURNE

Our overnight flight will arrive in the early morning. Afterwards, we board our connecting flight back to Melbourne (or your alternate home city) and we should arrive later on the same day.
