DAY 1. MELBOURNE / BANGKOK

This afternoon we depart from Melbourne airport for Bangkok and should arrive late in the evening. Feel free to stretch your legs as you explore Bangkok airport for a few hours.

DAY 2. BANGKOK/COPENHAGEN 

Your midnight flight from Bangkok to Copenhagen should arrive this morning. Our friendly tour manager will greet us and after formalities, we head off for our sightseeing tour of this city! Our city tour will show us Christianborg Palace, seat of Denmark’s Parliament, the world’s oldest stock exchange building with the inter-twined dragon tail, the Royal Theatre and the Amalienborg Square. We also visit Rosenbourg castle, built in 17th century by King Christian IV in Dutch Renaissance style. Time permitting, you may wish to stroll along ‘Stroget’, Copenhagen’s mile-long pedestrian shopping street in the heart of the city.

DAY 3. COPENHAGEN/GOTHENBURG

After breakfast we head for north of Copenhagen and journey to North Zealand, a region of villages, palaces, lakes, and forests. We stop at the village of Elsinore, at the narrowest point of the channel separating Denmark from Sweden. Kronborg castle sits on a peninsula jutting out into the Oresund. Famous for the Shakespearean play “Hamlet”. Then a quick picture stop at the 17th-century Frederiksborg Castle. We then board the ferry over to Helsingborg port and continue our exciting journey. Our tour of Gothenburg includes picture stops of the Gothenburg Opera building, the famous shopping street Avenyn, statue of Poseidon, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Concert House, City Theatre and the lively old working class quarters Haga. Overnight in Gothenburg.

DAY 4.GOTHENBURG/KARLSTAD/ AVESTA 

North bound we go today to the University city of Karlstad – founded by King Karl IX in 1584, and is sited on an island of the Klarälven river. Orientation of Karlstad includes Karlstad Cathedral and Town Square. The town centre offer a mix of attractive, yet solid traditional and modern Swedish buildings. Afterwards, we head to the township of Avesta. Once we arrive, a stop to take a picture of the world’s largest wooden Dala horse in front of the market square.

DAY 5. AVESTA/MORA/HAMAR  

Spend the morning in Sweden’s Dalarna County – Rich in folklore and culture, it is fragrantly exhibited in the little village of Nusnas as we visit a workshop for wooden Dala horses. Wooden Dala horses are made traditionally by hand till this day in the workshop of Nil and are fondly regarded as a Swedish symbol. This afternoon, we come to another little market town of Mora, at the northwest end of the Lake Siljan, where the river Österdalälv flows. Continue our journey to Hamar.

DAY 6. HAMAR/LAERDAL 

Today we visit Lillehammer, home of the 1994 Winter Olympics. See the Hakons Hall, Lysgardsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena, Ski Stadium and arena which are all part of this park. Next highlight is a quick stop at the Borgund stave church. The best preserved of the 29 Norwegian stave churches – standing more or less as it was since 1150. The church is built without any metal; no nails nor bolts. Then we continue to Laerdal , for our amazing Fjord cruise.

DAY 7. LAERDAL/MYDRAL/VOSS/GOL

This morning after breakfast enjoy a spectacular train ride on board Flamsbana (the railway). A masterpiece of Norwegian engineering, the Flamsbana is one of the world’s steepest railway lines! You’ll descend some 2,600 feet through the mountains, past waterfalls, rivers, ravines and sheer cliffs – it’s quite a memorable journey! We have more of Norway scenery to admire until we reach Gol area for this evening’s rest.

DAY 8. GOL/OSLO 

Down the mountain we go to Oslo in the afternoon for our city tour. Photostops include City Hall, City administration, and art studios and galleries. Then Storting – the Norwegian Parliament and we also pass by the Royal Palace; Carl Johnson shopping street and the impressive Foreign Ministry before we drive to the peninsula of Bygdøy. Here, we find the Summer Palace of Oscarshall and the Viking Ship Museum. We then stop at the    Norwegian Museum of Cultural History and where the 12th century stave church at Gol could be seen here. The highlight of today is Frogner Park, a public park which is part of Frogner Manor which belonged to rich families before being acquired by the city of Oslo.

DAY 9. OSLO/HONNISVAG/NORTH CAPE 

A short flight from Oslo to Honnigsvag, the north of Norway. This is a fishing community with 2500 inhabitants, a small town characterized by brightly painted wooden buildings. Pretty little Honnigsvag is also the gateway port for visiting the legendary North Cape, second most northerly point in Europe. Our tour brings us to see the breathtaking fjords, Duken Mountain and waterfalls. This small town is all bathed in the mysterious summertime light of the famous Midnight Sun. The North Cape’s Midnight Sun is rightly   famous – the sun never rises in winter, nor sets in midsummer. From  Honningsvag, the North Cape is just 34km (21 miles) away. After dinner, a unique experience to view the midnight sun and visit to North Cape hall.

DAY 10. HONNISVAG/SAARISELKA

This morning our visit a very special farm – here we witness king crab dismantling and tasting! Then continue to Karasjok  and visit Sápmi Park for  an enthralling and entertaining  Sami culture experience. The cultural park lies in the centre of Karasjok, a town of 3000 local indigenous “Sami” people  which is considered the capital of the Sami people in Norway. Karasjok is a has about 60000 reindeer grazing in the area throughout the autumn and winter. We continue to North Finland and tonight we settle in Saariselka.

DAY 11. SAARISELKA/ROVANIEMI/HELSINKI 

This morning enjoy a bit of free time at Santas Hotel to rest up. Travel southward toward the border of the Artic Circle – Rovaniemi, famous for the Santa Claus Village. Along the way we will stop by to grab a quick lunch at your own expense. We invite you to get close to Santa and take picture with him! Make sure to visit the only official post office of Santa Claus where it is possible to create your own stamp with your personal photo! After dinner enjoy a bit of free time in the area before heading off to board train.  Later this evening we travel to Helsinki by night train, sleeping all the way, and in the morning we wake up in the Finland capital, Helsinki.

DAY 12. ARRIVE HELSINKI

We arrive at Helsinki central station this morning! Our local guide will be ready to show you around. Today’s highlights include Temppeliaukio Church, Helsinki Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral, Senate Square, Parliament House, City Hall, Sibelius Monument, Olympic Stadium, Market Square and more. Afternoon at leisure if time permits.

DAY 13. HELSINKI/SOUMELINNA/STOCKHOLM 

After breakfast, enjoy a short ferry boat ride to Somenlinna Island. In 1991, the Somenlinna fortress was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Take a walk around the old fortifications and see historical monuments, the craft shops and nice views of the Baltic Sea. Return to Helsinki afterwards.After lunch, we board our Tallink Silja Oy in interior or inside cabin for crossing to Sweden overnight.

Overnight Stay – Night cruise to Stockholm

DAY 14.ARRIVE STOCKHOLM 

Reputed as “The city that floats on water”, Stockholm is all yours today. Our first stop today is City Hall and once inside, we see the glorious Gold Room, venue of the annual Nobel Prize banquet, then to the unique Central rail station, the Parliament house. From Fjallgatan, admire the Museum island; the Kungstardgarden Park and the Royal Palaces across the waterway before taking a stroll through the picturesque Old Town. Later, we visit the Vasa museum located on the Galärvarvsvägen which houses the Vasa – the only preserved 17th-century ship. The museum allows you to view the Vasa ship from six levels and it has been chosen as one of the seven wonders of Sweden.

DAY 15.STOCKHOLM 

The Palace is Sweden’s best preserved royal palace. Built in the seventeenth century by Queen Hedvig Eleonora, the Dottningholm is the permanent residence of the Swedish royal family. The palace features magnificent salons from the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a beautiful park, a unique palace theatre and a Chinese Pavilion. The imposing Baroque garden was laid out beginning in 1681. In 1991  Drottningholm was the first Swedish attraction put on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. After lunch, enjoy some free time at leisure.

DAY 16. STOCKHOLM/BANGKOK 

All good things still has to come to an end. We depart home today after breakfast, bidding farewell to the world so far north to ours. Our flight will depart in the afternoon, sit back and enjoy the inflight service and look forward to sharing the beautiful snaps taken on this unforgettable journey.

DAY 17. BANGKOK/MELBOURNE 

Our flight arrives early in the morning into Bangkok airport. Not long after our connecting flight departs homebound for Melbourne. Later this evening, we will arrive home and we hope you enjoyed your exciting adventure to Scandinavia!
